For me, the white adds to the mystery. I don't mind painting into those spaces, and I'm realizing from some of the members' comments that I could do more to add to the painting once it has been poured. I'll think more about your comment. Thanks again. <div>I sent one too, it has since been deleted from my email, but I'll bet I can
pretty much put another together:</div>
<div> </div>
<div>"Before we get lost in Cia's sad passing, let's not forget the monthly
critique on the painting from Ms. Roshaven! This one is a love-hate
situation for me:</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I have no talent for pouring myself, although I love paintings done this
way, they are almost always interesting. This one's no exception, the
colours vibrant against each other for the most part, and the leaf appearing
really as an abstract shape. I love the blended blue/greens.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The inky bottom and white bits left sticking out, however, for me ruin the
basic shot, and yet I know the problem: you want the colour to do whatever it
will, and yet it does something you don't want -- to guide or not to
guide? to go back in with a brush later feels so often like cheating, and
yet...........and yet..........</div>
<div> </div>
<div>So as I say, there are things I love about this one, and things I hate --
the composition is sharply dark/light despite the medium blend colours,
and while there is a liquid feeling to some of the blending, there are
those bits of white paper sticking out like islands or pimples. The
picture as a whole feels frozen but not complete, even though parts of it are
really, really neat -- I like the third at either end, barring the white
spots. "</div>

<td valign="top">Hello -- I've not heard from any of you yet about my
September critique. Since you are all more experienced than I am
at water media, I'm hoping that you can give me some words of wisdom
about my work. And I'm wondering if those of you who knew Cia
Price might add something that she might have said about this kind of
work. I know it's not as representational as most of your is, but
I'd still like to hear from you. Thanks! Pat Roshaven
