My dear Pat, how are you going to tolerate that flatness and that dry
heat? I went to<br>
Vegas once, in 1994, and my eyes were actually hurting, longing to see
a lush green hill! I<br>
felt like kissing the ground when we got back to Atlanta airport.<br>
<br>
This painting is absolutely beautiful. Even with it's direct lines to
just above center, it still works<br>
because of the planter, you did such a wonderful job on the textures,
it's almost touchable.<br>
<br>
The light sky and mountains are handled just right to express the
atmosphere between you<br>
and them, they are perfectly rendered.<br>
<br>
The color harmonies are not to be forgotten in this discussion of this
work. They are<br>
exquisite. The subtleties are soft and realistic while being
impressionistic at the same time.<br>
<br>
The light and shadows are perfect also. You know I always say "no sun,
no fun" in my paintings.<br>
And so when I see it so perfectly expressed, I get a thrill, because I
know, without a doubt,<br>
this artist "gets it". There are some artists who are really good who
still have not gotten how<br>
very important it is to know exactly where the sun is.<br>
<br>
If I had one thing I would do, but don't do it, actually don't touch
it, I would just take some<br>
clear water on a brush, not much at all, and soften the top line of the
green trees. Other than<br>
that, it's a huge success and even might win a prize in my opinion.<br>
