I also thought the idea was a welcome change, but I also agree the new
scheme puts more constraints on our ability to post, probably more than the
majority of us are ready to accept, but at the same time some of us seem to
be able to abide by it quite nicely. It sure disturbs the routine, but is it
a bad thing? Why not try the new scheme like 3 times a year and keep the
proven one the rest of the time? We can always try and propose a theme which
inspires us
Just a thought.
Kind regards,
Gilles

Raymond--I suspect the reason for the difference in participation was that
the previous format allowed for participation without any limitation other
than the theme of the month. <snip> The new format puts constraints on that
enthusiasm. I, for one, don't have time to search for a "challenge" artwork,
post it, and paint my own version of it.
As the one who propsed the change I'll jump in here. I agree with Nita as I
find that I do not have time to mull the theme and then conceive and paint a
new piece to suit it... and I am retired. I can only imagine what it might
be like for those of you who hold down jobs. The suggestion was meant to be
liberating, not something that would squelch us, so I guess it should be
scrapped and we go back to the old way?
Reactions?
