[Aquanet] Web site changes

Hey everyone

First of all: read my message again - I never said that I would remove
the email list, on the contrary see my quote "I would keep the list
around" - I am surprised that so many of you read that into my
message. Sorry for the ambiguity.

Secondly: members vs sponsors - the members page is one that I have
not even touched since I took over the site and I have not given it
much thought. I've put my energies into the galleries and the
critiques - part of the redesign I am planning is the overhaul and
replacement/retirement of many of the other pages.

Thirdly: regarding the comments or call for a board of governance or
directors for the site - sorry, but that is just out of the question
in my opinion. This is still a non-profit community site but the idea
of running things by committee has 0 appeal to me. And in response to
the comment that I am deciding to just redesign our site without
regards to the members' opinions, that's what this email was... a call
for a discussion *before* I made a big change, so I don't see how that
implication could be made.

So, what I get out of this so far is:
1) Keep the list as the primary medium of discussion
2) Add comments to the gallery pages
3) Do something to prevent spam from the gallery page comments (that
something to be determined)
4) Continue to encourage people to visit the site through emails
5) Lose the obsolete members' pages and possibly replace them with
something current, as they are obsolete which is causing confusion
