Hi Claudia,

I just wonder: what exactly did you not like about this superb painting? The
atmosphere is rendered beautifully, the skillful arrangement of strong hues
and colored grays makes colors sing, the composition is very effective in
leading the eye in and around the painting and a lot of painters would kill
(figure of speech) to be endowed with such a fresh and spontaneous style

"Fall at the lake" is my favorite among a truly exceptional display of
talents. This theme really hit the bull's eye in bringing the best out of
this group!

Kind regards,

Gilles

Barry .thanks for your positive comment on my painting. Funny is, I didn't
even like it after it was finished. I thougt : just another wishy washy
painting of mine. Last week my family decided to prolong the summer a bit
and went to Italy ( venice and lake garda ) with a motorhome . The weather
was so warm and we could swim in the mediteranean and also in the lake.
Yesterday we took the way home over mountain passes where Fall already
turned the landscape in beautiful warm colors of yellow and orange browns
and thought i don't like the comming cold season ,but this was wonderful.
Coming home and checking my computer i was thrilled to have the fall colors
as the gallery theme for october . Despite my not so good feelings about my
painting I thougt i turn it in, the fall colors are there at least. I also
think, again, there ist a great selection of paintings in the gallery

First of all I think this months theme contributions are the best I've seen
in a long time. I really like them ALL! Just seems to have validated my
strong belief in "subject matter."

As it would take volumes to touch on each, I'll only mention a few.

Annette's "shape-painting" is a technique I really like, I really like it a
lot! "Windswept" by Linda Kemp has the perfect name and I love the painting
in general- everything about it (I obviously feel titles are important),
"Bountiful Harvest" by Barbara just screams of Fall- jumps right up at you,
gorgeous! Nita's " Autumn Leaves" is an incredible example of neg./pos.
painting should be in a really nice gallery or library but Claudia's " Fall
at the Lake" is my favorite so far. Just too many things I like about it to
mention, a classic example of a "textbook watercolor" in my eyes if there
could ever be such a thing.

Thanks everyone and I look forward to see and learning more! Have a great
weekend folks.
