I'd say good thing your client stopped you. I used to know an old-fashioned watercolourist who always let one edge/corner or another of her paintings slide into white paper, for that 'unfinished' look. Never thought too much of it, as she was a copyist, but maybe she had a thought there.
The apple blossoms just glow and the whole thing looks bathed in sunlight with the marvelous tones of the paint coming to fore. Gorgeous, and I assume you are going to do this one again some time?

Apple Blossom Time is about 13" by 19" for the painted part of
a half sheet of Kilimanjaro 140 lb. cold press bright white paper. I loved painting this.
However, I had a prospective buyer before I ever thought it was finished, on the
condition that I not touch it anymore. I still see things that I feel I ought to do but...
the customer is always right! She wanted to bid on it, I put it up on ebay, she
did, now she's been outbid! Sometimes maybe things are finished before we
think that they are.
Mistakes I was thinking I made: Thought I drew these tiny blossoms way too
big, and that the photograph I had was too small to see clearly tiny details in
the flowers. I had even thought about starting over at a smaller size.
But it's out of my hands now. Nita Engle said one time in a workshop
that sometimes you only know you are finished when somebody takes
it away from you. I still have it but think it's important not to touch it,
since it was presented in this form.
This is the last painting I've completed. Also, there is no white paint
on this painting whatsoever. It's all transparent watercolor.
