Hi gang,

I need some information from all you art teachers out there. I was approach many times to give watercolour lessons in my area. I have already given some drawing and watercolour lessons but it was always to people I know (read: no charge!!!). I have always hesitated about doing this at large but I am thinking of starting in the Fall. Now for the hard part, how much can I charge for the different type of lessons?

Private lessons: only one student in my studio (supplies not included in the cost). I was thinking of giving either 2 or 3 hours (what do you think is best?) lesson for a total of 10 lessons (20 or 30 hours). What would be the average rate for this?

Semi-private lessons: three or four students in my studio (supplies not included in the cost). I was thinking of giving either 2 or 3 hours lesson for a total of 10 lessons (20 or 30 hours). What would be the average rate for this?

Group classes: 10 to 15 students. These classes could be in schools as an after school activity, for the city or in retirement centers. For the retirement centers, I was thinking of 2 hours maximum per lesson. The supplies would be furnished by the center (I would give them a list). I wouldn't charge the students but the center would be offering this activity to their residents. So I need to now what is the normal price per hour that teachers charge for these types of classes.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to respond to this e-mail.

Have a nice day!
