Thank you Lorraine for sharing this event with our Aquanet friends.

Participating in this symposium was such a wonderful experience! 

First, it was an extremely great pleasure to meet Lorraine and George in
person. One nice thing with Aquanet is that you get to cross roads with
wonderful persons and accomplished artists from all over the world. It was
also a lot of fun to paint in front of the public and share views with
numerous visitors. Plus the atmosphere of camaraderie and sharing between
highly talented artists from varied backgrounds all concurred to make the
event a truly memorable one. 

Lorraine, thanks again for informing me and encouraging me to participate.
We all had a great time and I wholeheartedly recommend this symposium.

I'm very pleased to tell you that some Aquanet Members met and worked
together last month at the 2009 Edition of the International Jean-Paul
Lapointe Symposium presented in Saguenay (Chicoutimi).  I was very glad to
work with such talented artists who were selected. The Symposium has a

DESCRIPTION

This symposium was created by Jean-Paul Lapointe, international artist,
signature member of Institut des Arts Figuratifs, who died in 2007. In the
beginning, the symposium's name was International Challenge, it became
Symposium international Jean-Paul Lapointe in 2007, a few months after his
death. Chicoutimi, near Saguenay River is located in a beautiful area
surrounded by majestic fjords. 


This major art event had 23,000 visitors from June 19 until 21st 2009 to see
and meet more than 
42 professional painters and sculptors with national and international
reputation from the province of Québec, other canadian provinces and artists
from abroad : France, Greece, United States, Belgium were represented in
2009. 

 

All artist have a provided booth and they paint or sculpt in front of the
public, they explain their technique or creation process. They also meet
other artists to share knowledge about their savoir-faire, their culture.
The last edition was presented in 2009 at the Vieux Hangar de Chicoutimi,
this great art event was like a gigantic creation studio. Visitors have the
privilege to meet the artists, follow their work in progress, from morning
until night. Other activities are also organized, such as demonstrations,
pedagogical activities with the youngsters. A program is published with the
names of all artists and daily activities. Promotion and publicity about
this major event include magazines and regional newspapers. Special Guests
were invited during last editions so they attracted a larger number of
visitors.
