Hi, Pat-
I don't know anything about the Jet brushes, but the theory does sound good.
I have used Cheap Joe's Nighthawk aquarelle, 1" flat, which I believe is a
squirrel/synthetic blend, and found it very nice to work with. It holds a
lot of paint and releases it smoothly. I found that it did shed a hair from
time to time. I think maybe the Daniel Smith "Platinum Series 24" is a
squirrel/synthetic blend. I have a 2" wash brush in that line and find it
very suitable for that type of application. None of these has quite the
snap or spring of a Kolinsky or a sable/synthetic blend, but they are much
better than most straight synthetic brushes for paint load and smoothness.
100% squirrel is fun to work with, but quite "floppy." I like it when I
need a ton of paint and want to be splashy, or when I am glazing and want
quick coverage without scrubbing the underlayer. Full squirrel brushes of
good quality are very expensive, though, so the blend might be good.

Hi, gang.
Does anyone have any experience with the Jet Brushes by Stratford and
York? Here's the blurb from the Paint Spot in Edmonton.
"Another innovative watercolour brush unique to Stratford & York. For
Jet, the purest Blue Squirrel hair has been blended with special
synthetic filaments to bring spring and control to the brilliant
pointing and wondrous water holding capacity of natural squirrel hair.
Jet is the brush to make squirrel brushes even more popular and even
better value."
As always I am highly sceptical of advertizing copy, but still the
theory sounds good.
wondering,
pat
