[Aquanet] silk for use with dyes

Hello -- I'm wondering if any of you use dyes on silk.  I recently received some Silk Noil (35 mm raw silk) from Dharma Trading Company, which is really nice, but I'd like a heavier weight.  This is the heaviest weight they carry.  Do you have a suggestion for finding a heavier weight raw silk?  I'd also like to hear from any of you who use dyes on fabric and which fabric you like the best.  Thank you.  I've been lurking and am really impressed with the great advice you give each other.
