[Aquanet] December critique

Hi Pat,

I really REALLY like it. I love the colors and the drawing. The outline of
the rocks comes out nice and makes it really interesting. The greens are
lively and the contrast between the turquoise and the earthy tones are
gorgeous. The shadows in the rocks are beautiful and very well done.
Here is what I might change: your sky is a bit too even (or at least it
comes out that way on my screen). I would have it paler (and maybe add a
touch of very pale yellow or ochre) when it is the closest to the mountains
so we can feel them being even further away. I would put more contrast in
shadows and the sunny parts of the front rocks on the bottom right and
center to bring them even more forward. You could even add some green grass
on the extreme right just above the dark grey line in your lower right
corner. I think that by putting some grass there you would move your eye
from the main grass that is right in the bottom middle of your painting and
make your composition more interesting. You could also darken your water
when it is in the shadows but be careful not to do it too much because you
want to keep the beautiful contrast between the water and your rocks. Which
is just gorgeous!

Congratulations on a very good watercolour!

Have a nice day!
