Yes, I have used them for plein air painting, on canvas panels, like oils.
I found them to work quite well in that application - a big improvement over
trying to keep regular acrylics from drying in mid-stroke by using a wet
palette, mister, etc. I used a limited palette - UltraBlue, CdYPrimrose,
CdRLight, Alizarin Crimson Hue, and Titanium White. No medium. When
thinned with water for the underlying drawing/toning, they dry quickly, like
regular acrylic. When thicker, they took as long as a day or so to dry
thoroughly. The pigment load, etc., seem like the regular Golden acrylics
or M.Graham acrylics - excellent.

You can see the samples at

The last 4 were with Open acrylics as above. The other acrylic paintings
were with M.Graham acrylics.

Subject: [Aquanet] open acrylics

Hi, gang.

In the last Watercolour Gazette, Eileen noted the new Golden Open
Acrylics with a much-lengthened drying time. Has anyone used them? Any
comments or opinions? They do sound interesting as my major beef with
acrylics has been the too-rapid drying time.

TIA for any information
