Okay, knowing that Pat is a better artist than I'll ever be, I shall
still add my comments.

First, I am in awe of Pat's ability to draw, and I also am madly jealous
of her ability to realistically portray the textured surface of stucco
and the patinated (?) surface of the planter. In addition I like the way
the colours work together (as in the colours of the mountains also
showing up in the shaded part of the stucco) as well as the great use of
atmospheric perspective. More jealousy raging.

I am bothered, however, by the composition. The eye is so strongly drawn
to the planter that I find I have to force myself to look at the rest of
the painting. In addition, the placement of the centre of interest right
smack in the middle bothers me as I am an arch-conservative (well, not
politically) and I would like to see it moved to one side or the other
with some kind of detail designed to draw the eye around the rest of the
painting.

That said, if Pat lived a lot closer, I'd love to take lessons from her
as she has so much talent.

chimo and a' that
