Thanks, George, for the magnificent critique of Lorraine Dietrich's florals and her artwork pieces. It affected my thinking from very different viewpoints, both informative and enlightening. Gave me new inspiration on floral painting and landscapes which is now better understood, especially how to approach painting florals with emotion.
I'm sure Lorraine is very pleased with your praise and critique!

Painting may be figurative or abstract, yet in any case it has to lift the viewer, to communicate an idea, a mood. The works of Lorraine Dietrich do more than that; her pieces (that really glow with light and color) evoke some kind of magic..

In her floral compositions Lorraine Dietrich goes beyond floral painting. She becomes a portraitist; she creates portraits of her flowers. Lorraine can make the ordinary seem unique and beautifully complex. The feeling is evoked, while the color and shape (although carefully planned and rendered) are absorbed. You feel like you can touch or smell the flowers.

I once read that if you can learn to harness both sides of your brain, that is the rational side and the emotional one, you can reach another level of creativity. That is what Lorraine, a true master of watercolor, has achieved. Technique is the tool to express her passion about the beautiful around us, be it a floral composition or a still landscape. Lorraine’s fascinating work is beyond any question an inspiration for the artist and a true jewel for art – connoisseurs and collectors.
