[Aquanet] I need love letters

Dear Lorraine-

Congratulations on your exhibition!  I was pleased to get an advance look at
images of some of the works to be included.  They show your consistent
technical expertise and adroit use of the medium of watercolor on paper.
Your works always demonstrate the very highest professional and artistic
standards.
What is very special, however, is the lyrical quality of your use of color
and of shapes.  While your paintings are unfailing botanically accurate - so
much so that they could serve almost as a textbook on flowers - you add an
extra quality of brightness, clarity, and interesting harmony in your choice
of colors.
I know that you like to listen to fine music as you paint, and there is a
subtle musical quality which shows through.

Your sense of composition is very sound, so that the total construction of
the paintings supports the mood you intend.  I myself am a more impatient
painter, who strikes at the patterns of light and dark which surge over
actual objects, so I appreciate very much the contrast in your more
classical and meticulous paintings.  Maybe I am a Shostakovich or Prokofiev
and you a Telemann or Mozart.  At any rate I very much enjoy the way you
make your paintings.

I also want to mention on this occasion my great admiration for your service
to the community of artists and for the energy and enthusiasm you bring to
friendships and to advancing the standards and appreciation of
representational art.
