[Aquanet] Barry's painting

I think watercolourists are brave souls anyway -- they paint without being able to scrape off results, limited attack in painting over or glazing mistakes, and all sorts of other hazards, working on damp smelly paper, and they paint anyway.

Then, there are the special ones -- those who paint their subjects out of doors no matter the weather conditions. For me, although I think sometimes these folks are some kinda crazy, the practice deserves an extra congratulation for perserverance in the face of adversity when the weather is not conducive to being outside, never mind painting in it.

So okay, the major weakness here for me is that I know there's a 'drop' between bridge and water; however, the painting fixes it so that I don't care, in that the mood and lighting are there, the colours and forms are absolutely great, and the overcast feeling of the day is complete enough so my fingers numb up looking at the image.

While it isn't my favourite of your paintings, Barry, it is surely an image that sets up the mood perfectly, and makes the subject entirely believable. Not much more you could ask from a watercolour!
