Hi Pat (in Calgary)
Yes, you are right, this book does have a special meaning because it reminds me of his excellent workshop, and the comradery.
As we know books on watercolour deal with all of the various techniques that one can learn about. Tom Lynch's style is one of them. He covers the 7 principals of art and demonstrates them by using his student's paintings as examples. Along with his own works he stresses a better understanding of the fundamentals. Whether or not this book helps depends on what we are trying to achieve. At the very least, though, this Artist is passing on his knowledge and experiences.
It is interesting to note Tom Lynch uses Holbein paints saying it will liquefy better than many other brands. He also mentions that he now primarily paints on a watercolour canvas.
