[Aquanet] Holbein paints

Holbein paints are very rich in pigment, but they handle differently from most watercolors because they don't have ox gall in them. Ox gall is the substance that makes watercolor spread on a wet surface. As I understand it, Holbein paints were originally created for brush painting on rice paper, so that quality isn't desirable. They have a velvety finish that is beautiful, but less transparent-looking than most other watercolor paints. In addition, they have a great many multi-pigment colors that are beautiful, but most can be mixed from a basic palette. They are good as convenience colors if you find favorites you like to work with.

Be careful. Many colors have so many fillers in them that unless you are a master of color mixing, it is very easy to make mud with them. A lot look / handle more like gouache. They are quite different from the transparent W & N paints that you are familiar with.
When you travel south for the holidays, stop by with an empty palette and I'll give you a squirt of each of the few that I have.

I am looking to try Holbein watercolor paints. Do any of you have a'favorite' color(s) that you recommend---mostly for florals (brightly colored)? There are so many to choose from and can get confusing.
Would so appreciate any ideas that you have.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL,
