I cleared up a little issue this morning that was slowing down the  
first section, “Fresh paint”.  I discovered that three of the images  
in that section had been saved in CMYK color mode and not RGB.  That  
brought the size way down (from 620 KB to 80 KB for a 72 pixel  
square !).  When you multiply how many times one image can be used  
(full-sized, detail, a bunch of thumbnails), that makes a difference.

I'll keep on tweaking !
