[Aquanet] a question of scarlet

I have so many problems using reds that I finally realized that the
best I can do is help the viewer see just how confused I am when I
look at reds. I have a whole bunch of tubes of different reds, but I
am happiest with the results when I span a wide range of warm to cool
reds that bracket the local color (more like hot to cold). I'm
currently painting a bouquet of what I would describe as "coral"
colored roses. I'm using a range from ultramarine blue tints for the
highlights, to quinacridone violet, to quinacridone rose to
quinacridone red to naphthol red for each petal. Most of these are M
Graham paints.
I also find that of all the hues red seems to be the most sensitive
to the colors that surround it.
But then, maybe I'm just partially colorblind when it comes to red!
