Barry,
Best of luck with your new show. I did take quite a bit of time to browse through your website and, as always, found it to be an "eye extravaganza"!!!! I especially enjoyed the Hawaiian paintings and was interested in all the different types of paper and boards you've painted on. Am wondering if you now have a favorite. My eye always tends towards the watercolor papers, especially the heavier weight ones. Also found a lot of "watercoloriness" in some of your oil paintings which I found comforting to my eye. It was a lovely visual experience.
Regards,
Louise

  Subject: [Aquanet] Exhibition opening

This Friday, Sept 7, 6-8pm at Cantrell
Gallery in Little Rock, is the opening of my solo exhibition,

"Above the Sleeping Fire: Hawaii and Yellowstone"

The show will have 40 paintings, representing the core of what I have
been making the last year or so.

Of special interest to watercolorists will be the range of support
surfaces. I have deliberately explored a range of supports to
express my feeling about these landscape subjects, ranging from
handmade French watercolor paper, through my usual Fabriano, to
watercolor board, plate illustration board (very smooth), to textured
ClayBord. To expand the expressive range yet further, I am including
several small oil paintings on canvas panels. I think the work shows
how an underlying expressive style has unity through a range of
  media.

I welcome feedback from fellow painters on this issue of choice of painting medium and surface.

If you've been to Hawaii (or just enjoyed "Lost" on TV) or
Yellowstone, I hope you'll have a good time reliving your impressions
  of the places.

The new paintings are on my web site, but if you are around the Little Rock area in September or October, why not see them in real life?
