Pam--
Do you intend to make prints of your paintings from digital photos? If so, best results are from 7 MP or higher (10 MP if to be published in a book).

There are some really good Canon and Nikon cameras with lots of features, but some of them in the lower price ranges don't have the high MPs.

A really good full-featured camera is the Canon G7. For a little more you can get a true SLR 10 MP Nikon D40 or D40X. If you want a more pocket sized camera, these wouldn't do.

Subject: [Aquanet] Need replacement digital camera ASAP

  Morning everyone,

My old (reeeeealy old) digital camera finally died and now I need to purchase a new one. It has been so long (almost 10 yrs) since I have looked at digital cameras I feel clueless. I don't need every bell & whistle. I want something with a **good** zoom lens, good color capture and hopefully some manual control. I know I have read where several have recommended Cannon in the past but I don't remember specifics. Are there any recommendations out there? I need to get this thing ASAP as I leave on a trip in two weeks and I also need to archive a couple of paintings before I have them framed.

  I would appreciate any suggestions!!!!

  Pam
