I only use paper I have made or papers which are archival to start with such
as watercolor paper, artist tissue paper or rag papers. I do not buy off the
shelf papers as I feel the connection to the work is stronger if you make
all the collage materials and many Japanese or Chinese papers fade over time.
Most papers can be duplicated if there is something you see and wish to
include it.

Since I only use artist grade paints and papers I see no difference in how
they should last. Some of my collages are given a gloss or matt medium finish
which give them some protection. Once again I would only use mediums which
are considered archival such as Golden or Liquitex mediums.

The actual collage is usually held together with a combination of mediums
depending on what it is that need to be glued. Tissue paper is usually just
glued together with medium mixed with water and brayed.

"Yes" glue is now archival and works well for thick papers and assemblage.
Only time will tell.
I hope this helps.
