[Aquanet] WC with no glass

I am interested in what varnish products you used for this. I have an expendable W.C. I could experiment on. I often wish I could frame without glass because of the glare but am wondering about the appearance of the WC surface with varnish; I would not want it to look like an oil painting. Thanks for any further info.

Happy New Year everyone!

Subject: [Aquanet] WC with no glass

  Dear Aquanetters

I made some paintings that are watercolour with no glass, these are painted on wc paper but coated with special varnish products that are flexible, UV protection. The wc is then marouflé on a acid free panel then framed like an oil painting. My husband (age 70) likes this new presentation, my daughter (age 30) prefers the "classical" presentation with no varnish , with mats and glass. I've done lots of research and consultations to find and experiment the right and long conservation term products, maybe 18 months.

  Comparing the two ways :

  1) No glass : I like the results but since it is a new way of looking at a wc, some adaptation must be done on my part to get accustomed . Frames are less expensive and you can make a bigger painting fit in the same frame because marie-louise is more narrow. Exemple : in a former classical frame meant for 15 x 21 wc , you are able to fit almost a 18 x 24 inches.

  2) No glass : the finition takes much longer , so the less expensive cost for framing is spent on my professional time to do the finition.

Conclusion : I will do both kinds of presentation.

Have a new wonderful year, full of enchanting colors and projects.
